A frog's breed is one of the three key parts of a frog's appearance, alongside its base color and secondary color. Each separate breed of frog has its own unique pattern, which can be seen on their backs, legs, or full body, depending on the particular breed. For each breed of frog, there are 368 different unique colors, one for each possible type of base/secondary combination possible.
Rarer breeds are unlocked as the player continues to progress and level up. At first, the player is only capable of finding and breeding Anuras until they reach level two, in which the Crustalli, and Velatus breeds are unlocked. Every time a player gains a level, more breeds are unlocked (usually two non-POP breeds per level) for the player to discover. Currently, the player must reach level 36 to have access to every breed of frog in the game.
Breeds unlocked between levels 1 and 4 are common, breeds unlocked between 5 and 8 are rare, breeds unlocked between levels 9 and 12 are endangered, and breeds unlocked at levels 13 and after are legendary.
If a player is gifted a frog that is of a higher rarity than their current level (for example, a level 4 player receives a Sagitta from a friend), the player can still claim the frog and use it in the pond. However, if the player attempts to breed the frog with another frog, an error message will pop up saying that the player isn't a high enough level to breed the frog. As a result, gifted frogs that are higher than the player's level when received will be unable to be bred until the player unlocks that breed of frog themselves, due to game mechanics.
Currently, there are 112 different breeds which can be obtained in the game. Most frog breeds can be found either in the pond, in presents, from fireflies, or from minigames. However, there are a few breeds of frogs that are Promotional Frogs, which can only be obtained by purchasing them in the FrogMart for 25 potions on days which they appear, or when they are gifted to the player. These frogs are often called POP ("Promotional or Potion", or "Previously only Promotional") frogs.
Frogs with an asterisk after their names are POP (Promotional or Potion) Frogs. A list of only the POP frogs is here.

Frogs marked with * (asterisk) are POP (Promotional or Potion) frogs. They will not be found in the Pond, in presents, or in any of the mini-games. They must be purchased in the FrogMart for 25 potions when available, or sent as a gift from another user.
Value ranges marked with # (hash or pound sign) are based on incomplete entries in the Frog Database, but based on previous breeds are probably accurate for the high values and within a few points on the low values.
A dump of all the breed textures can be found here.
